Encoder Discs and Actuator Components

This page provides details of optical encoders and actuator components along with benefits of using chemical milling.

Selection of encoder discs and actuator components

Benefits of chemical milling :

  • Low cost tooling
  • Customised parts – you design it – we make it!
  • Various apertures, shapes and bar combinations
  • Variable bar heights
  • Burr free & Stress free manufacturing method
  • Prototypes made quickly
  • High volume capabilities
  • Various surface finishes available

Optical Encoder and Actuator Components

  • Optical encoder disc designers and specifiers requiring cost-effective, accurate and durable solutions, now have access to a manufacturing process capable of meeting their needs.
  • Custom-designed optical encoder discs are routinely manufactured by Photofabrication in prototype through to volume quantities for a wide array of highly-accurate motion control, positioning and measurement applications.
  • Fundamentally the degree of control required by the application determines the encoder disc's slot count and slot precision, and ultimately the manufacturing technology choice.
  • Actuator component designers also require a process to provide custom made components to facilitate their actuator designs. For this application a high degree of accuracy, along with both supreme quality and delivery availability are required. These are three elements Photofabrication regularly offer.
